Appetite
c. 1300, "craving for food," from Anglo-French appetit, Old French apetit "appetite, desire, eagerness", from Latin appetitus "appetite, longing," literally "desire toward," from appetere "to long for, desire; strive for, grasp at," from ad "to" + petere "go to, seek out," from PIE root ^pet- "to rush, fly" (see petition).
“In his new project Martin Penev reveals himself as a virtual realist. Not because he experiments with cutting-edge technology of virtual reality, but because he reflects / speculates on the reality of the virtual. Reality filled with things and events which we can define in Bulgarian as "theoretically possible" or in English would call "virtually possible".
Martin Penev speculates upon the expectations of his audience of what can be observed in the space of a gallery- objects originating from the art history, its genres and subtypes. And here it is his key finding - the difference between the process of representation of reality in which artists have been involved for centuries, and the process of constructing realities (albeit virtual), in which not only artists but also their audience is involved within the various synthetic techno-spaces.”
